ANDREA'S STORY
At six-month-old “Andrea” was left at the city dump before paramedics were called to rescue her. She had been abandoned there and left to die. She fought for her life for 2 months in the hospital before she was discharged into Casa Providencia’s care. When she came to us her feeding tube was clogged, she was severely underweight, her hair was falling out, she had scabs all over her body, and barely had the strength to move. She was very close to death. Once at Casa Providencia our team took immediate action with daily, life-changing medical and therapeutic procedures until she was on track to recovery. Since being at Casa Providencia she has received proper nutrition and physical and cognitive therapy 5 days a week. In a matter of only a few weeks, Andrea began showing her radiant, dimpled smile to everyone. Her skin healed and transitioned from a deathly grey to a glowing native brown. Now, at Casa Providencia, she has blossomed with life and is growing stronger each day. Andrea’s joyful attitude is partially due to the drastic recovery of her health, but also due to our loving staff who regularly remind her that she is a gift from God.
