Training for Prospective Adoptive Parents in Panama

We were invited by SENNIAF to the training seminar required for those Panamanian individuals who desire to adopt.  Our topic: how institutionalization effects children.  We spent a lot of time preparing all the materials to hand out, as well as the Power Point presentation for this event.  I think it was a success!

There were about 40 individuals in attendance, along with staff of SENNIAF.

Ari did an excellent job speaking and presenting the effects of institutionalization!  I followed along and did my best to make sure the Power Point was following along with her talk :)  My Spanish isn't the greatest, but I think we made a great team and the people received valuable information!

We learned about the opportunity on Sunday of last week, so worked like crazy to get everything perfected and translated in time to present on Wednesday.  Fortunately we had already done most of the research for the Booklet, so that just needed to be cleaned up.  The Booklet, by the way, is an excellent resource for those beginning to learn about the effects of institutionalization on children.  Click here to access the materials, Effects of Institutionalization: Goal of Permanency.

I also included a photo of Ari and I with Graciela, the lead attorney for the adoptions department of SENNIAF.  She has a true heart to see children placed in forever families as soon as possible.  We admire her work and love the opportunity to work along side her!  She has come to be a good friend of ours!
