Wow! Life sure went nuts once we landed in Panama...
It has been so unbelievably hectic that I am just now able to write a blog update. I have tons of things to update you all on, so I will try to do so little by little. Suffice it to say, we have not stopped running since we got here. We thought our work in Panama was over when we were in the States and that we could just stay there and run the ministry from the States (with our team in Panama being on the ground running it). The Lord told us to return. We ignored Him for a while, then finally one day as I was reading my devotional there was the verse where Jesus asks, "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord' and don't do the things I ask?" It was like a knife in my chest. I said Ok, Lord. Now I get it. What day should we go? June 17th was the answer. So I ran and told Matt. He had a similar experience and we prayed, knew we were to return, then booked the trip that day for the 17th.
Why am I telling you this? Looking back, we were actually in disobedience. We both felt the Lord telling us to go back about 4 weeks before this, and yet we both talked ourselves out of it. Isn't that so easy to do? The Lord lays something on your heart, and you are convinced it is something you are to do, but then 3 days later you have come up with a reasonable excuse for how that couldn't have been the Lord. This is actually disobedience. Yep, that's what we did! Thankfully, the Lord in His mercy sent us other points of confirmation. And we repented of not listening to His Voice. He forgave us, in His mercy, and even gave us a new sending off date!
Well, we arrived in Panama to a bit of mayhem. Lots of things had broken in our home/cars while away. So the first week was pretty crazy just trying to get water/air conditioning/transportation. Praise the Lord, though, a week later they were all fixed. Good thing because the following week our work load exploded!
We were invited to take over inputting the data for the new computer software program for the government. Many late work nights and that is almost finished. And this project can be used all over the world once finished! We also gave 2 all-day government trainings. And in the middle of this there is another opportunity on the horizon to open an orphanage. Lots happening with our orphanage programs, too. Meanwhile, our son Peter started school for the first time (sniffle, sniffle)! I will write more details of each of these later.
My point is this: we were not done in Panama. God is all-knowing and all-powerful. We are privileged to be serving Him. When you hear Him telling you to go, just go! Don't think twice, just go.
